The church is a continuation of the Souls Chapel Church which was organized in 1875. It was located about 1 1/2 miles south of the town of Geiger Alabama near the present Souls Chapel Cemetery. In 1913 the honorable John H Penson gave the land on which this church is now located. The existing building was completed 1914. The name was changed to Geiger Methodist Church. The first pastor was the reverend JA Seale and the 1st Sunday school Superintendent was doctor Hamlet Pinson many pastors served this church as part of the Gainesville charge. In 1975 the congregation voted to have a full-time pastor. In 1980 a Parsonage was built on land donated by the Sumter Farm and Stock Company. Over the years the local congregation has maintained the church. The first steeple was destroyed in the storm in the 1950’s. It was replaced by funds raised by the women of the church. This steple stood for many years and then fell into bad repair. The present steeple the memorial windows of the chimes were placed in honor of our former members by their families and friends. In 2016 Jeannie and Buster Orr donated the lovely grand piano that adds so much to the sanctuary. The Dozzle Curtain and the Cornice Board were recently placed in memory of Francis Leverett the church says to God be the glory great things He has done.
