Over the past several years, I’ve traveled thousands of miles across Alabama’s Black Belt to document historic churches before they are forgotten. This is an ongoing work of documentation and preservation, and additional counties will be added as the journey continues.
Each book below includes full-color photographs and historical details such as founding dates, architectural notes, and visible cornerstones or signage when available. While GPS coordinates and interactive maps are featured on my website, these print volumes serve as a lasting visual record of sacred spaces across each county — many of which are at risk of vanishing.
In addition to the county church photo books, the Jackson’s Ramblings volumes are curated compilations of selected blog posts, reflecting on my journeys, discoveries, and moments of reflection throughout the region.
