Old Federal Road Project
The James Salter memorial is one more reminder that the Old Federal Road passed through a landscape shaped by veterans, settlers, lawmakers, stage roads, and early Alabama families. Salter’s life reached from the Revolutionary War era into Alabama’s first years as a state. His service in the legislature came at a time when Alabama was still building its roads, communities, and local government.
